Planning the Perfect End-of-Season Awards Banquet for Your Golf League

The season is winding down, which means it's time to celebrate the victories, the near-misses, and the funny stories. A great awards banquet is the perfect capstone to your league. Here’s a quick checklist to make it a success.

1. Lock Down the Logistics

First things first. Secure a venue (it could be the clubhouse, a local restaurant's party room, or even someone's backyard). Set a date and time, and clearly communicate it to all league members well in advance. Figure out food and drinks—whether it's a catered meal or a potluck, having a plan is key.

2. Get Creative with Award Categories

Of course, you'll have your 'League Champion' and 'Low Net Score' awards. But don't stop there! Add some fun categories to get more people involved:

  • Most Improved Golfer: Recognize the player whose handicap dropped the most.
  • Mr. Consistent: For the player with the most pars or bogeys.
  • The Sandman: For the player who seemed to find every bunker.
  • Longest Drive / Closest to the Pin Champion: Award the player who won these weekly contests most often.

3. Get the Stats Right and Present Them Beautifully

This is where all the season's data pays off. Before the banquet, use your Leaderboardr app to easily pull the final, accurate standings and stats. You can quickly see the season-long leaderboard, individual player stats, and results from every event. Present the results in a slideshow or on a printout. Accurate, easily accessible data makes the awards feel legitimate and celebratory. A great banquet solidifies the community and gets everyone excited for next season!
